Fiber optic installation sometimes requires an NTT technician to install fiber in your home or building — NTT decides this based on existing cabling. If not needed, the MODEM is shipped to your address. SOFTBANK - with technician ¥10,000 to ¥24,000 - without ¥2,000. FLETS HIKARI - with technician ¥10,000 to ¥24,000 - without ¥2,000. BIGLOBE - with technician ¥18,000 - without ¥2,000. All these fees are mandatory and charged by the carrier and NTT.
If you plan to play games, watch high-quality videos, or share with more than 3 people, fiber optic is better. The Tower Air is much less powerful — a more basic internet.
